Your Eye Health

Eye health isn’t just about preserving your vision – your eyes are connected to your general health and keeping them healthy can protect you from a variety of eye conditions and vision loss.

Many eye health tips are obvious like wearing protective eyewear and eating healthily, but there are plenty of other things you can do to manage your eye health. For example, knowing of any eye conditions in your family history can help to determine your risk of contracting a certain eye condition.

Perhaps the most important thing you can do for your eyes is to have them tested regularly so you can track your vision and make sure any conditions that develop are caught early on.

What To Expect In Your Eye Examination?

Eye examinations involve a series of set tests to check your vision, assess your eye health and screen for eye conditions. If you require any additional testing, your optometrist will explain the test and its purpose. They will also gather some information about your daily life and medical history to help personalise any care or recommendations to you specifically.

OCT Technology

Using the best technology available is one of the ways we provide quality eye care.

An Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) scanner is a device that allows us to create a detailed image of the different layers that form the back of the eye.

This means our optometrists can get a more complete picture of your eye health and also examine specific areas to check for conditions that might be developing, such as glaucoma, macular degeneration or problems with the optic nerve.

Ask for an Elite Eye Examination that includes a detailed examination with an OCT.

If you are diabetic patient you have a scan every year which involves a Fundus picture,  this is a image of the back surface of the eye. The OCT scan is different as it allows us to see beneath the surface and detect any sign of problems or disease.
